Introduction

Armada was founded for the welfare and enjoyment of it's own membership. Above all else this Guild seeks to make the Earth and Beyond experience fun, entertaining and supportive of its own membership. Any member of Armada may suggest new and alternative ways to improve the guild.

Armada has a Guild Forum on Yahoo Groups. This forum is moderated by the Regent and Chancellor for the benefit of the guild membership. The forum may be used in any way a member wishes, so long as it is not illegal, or offensive to other members. Access to the Guild Forum is restricted to those of Lancer and Ranger rank.

Decisions within the Guild are more or less democratic, performed by poll on our forum. Everyone of Captain status and above is allowed one vote and only a consensus veto from the Senior Guild Members can prevent a concluded poll from becoming guild policy. Polls are also used to keep track of the memberships opinion concerning various important game issues and storylines. To initiate a poll simply make a request to the Chancellor or Regent, either in-game or by e-mail to: armadagu@armadaguild.com

Ranks that are noted as Tenured are protected from autocratic demotion. Any demotion requires a consensus of opinion from the Senior Guild Members. Senior Ranks can only be chosen or removed by the Regent himself.

Armada has a Guild Website which is kept up to date by the Chancellor. The website is continually being improved to better serve the guild membership. The website is used by the membership for a variety of purposes. Primary amongst these is the notification of up and coming events, general and guild news updates, and to reflect what is occurring on the Guild Forum so that Lancers and non-members can at least get an idea of what the guild is generally discussing, organising and planning.

Armada is not a 'roleplaying guild', but we do roleplay. This is optional, and usually develops naturally as one player ceases to 'chat' and starts to get into character. Other players may respond to this and roleplaying begins. Roger Wilco, or other such voice chat programs may be used by those who wish to do so and Armada has standard protocols for doing so. How often, and for how long, an individual player wishes to be 'in character' is up to the individual, but no strict 'we are now roleplaying rules' are yet established by Armada.

Armada exists as an entity in its own right with opinions, beliefs and general direction based upon the majority of its primary membership (see Primary and Alternative Characters) as directed by ongoing polls. With regard to certain things, such as its attitude to its own membership, attitude will never change. Regarding other issues, such as how it views the War against the Vrix, its position relative to the Red Dragons etc., these may at times change. Issues which the membership believe are important are added to the opinion polls.

Although Armada may have its own opinions, it is permitted, and encouraged for roleplaying purposes, that not all members share the same views. Armada will reflect the views of its membership, not impose its views upon them. Those who hold views which are not the same as Armada will not usually be alone, and they may act upon their views and motivations. Such views and actions are considered to be held and carried out 'sub rosa', (in secret). Alternative characters are expected to have their own views and these may not be the view of the players primary character (see Primary and Alternative Characters). Most organised Events within the guild are organised irrespective of any particular view. Certain Events will be organised and based around Armada's views while other Events will be organised and based around 'sub rosa' opinions. Events of these types are often roleplaying events because they reflect specific characters beliefs and their desire to act upon them.
